Seminar 3: Development cooperation with the EU – a civil society perspective from Sri Lanka
Date and time: 2 June, 8:30 – 9:30
Speaker: Dilshan Hettiarachchi, director, Diakonia country office, Sri Lanka
This seminar will be held in English. There will be opportunities to ask questions to the speaker.
Non-profit organizations in Sri Lanka like Diakonia encounter various obstacles as they operate in a highly unstable environment with the current economic crisis and diminishing international aid. To address the growing needs, Diakonia’s Sri Lanka office has initiated a collaboration with the EU, in a project aiming to empower activists to leverage digital space. While working with a new donor brings exciting opportunities, it also necessitates adapting to a more structured approach, potentially reducing flexibility.
Join us as we delve into the complexities of EU financed development cooperation and its impact on civil society within the local context. Gain valuable insights from the civil society perspective and engage in meaningful discussions regarding potential areas for improvement.
