In June 2024, Europe is going back to the polls and it is time to evaluate the work done by Swedish members of the European parliament during their mandate. CONCORD Sweden has reviewed the parliamentarians’ efforts to promote and defend sustainable global development and is now releasing the report “Under lupp – svenska EU-parlamentarikers agerande i globala frågor.”

We hereby invite members of the platform to a joint report release, followed by a training session. We start off with a panel discussion on how parliamentarians get engaged in and gather support for their priorities, and how civil society can navigate the European Parliament to gain impact and hold the elected representatives accountable. We continue with a training session with CONCORD Sweden’s EU expert Benjamin Hauville on keeping track of parliamentarians actions.

To mark off the report release, we invite CONCORD members to a halfday event to shed a light on the work of members of the European Parliament and share useful tips and reflections for civil society organisations to understand, monitor and influence legislative processes. Joining us to share their varied experiences are:

  • Ilan de Basso, Member of the European Parliament, Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) and member of Socialdemokraterna (S). Ilan de Basso sits in the Parliament’s committee on employment and social affairs
  • Camilla Nothhaft, PhD, senior lecturer and researcher at the department of strategic communication at Lund University. Her research focuses on lobbying, in particular towards EU institutions in Brussels
  • Mathieu Vervynckt, Head of Unit Value Chains at Swedwatch. He has most recently worked on the directive proposal for Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence.
